When Is It Time to Take Rest?
I'm back! After my desk saga, I got massively sick for two weeks and I'm just now recovered, partially because I just kept working through it even when I didn't need to.
I founded this company on the idea that we are human beings with human bodies and lives, and that will sometimes disrupt our business lives. But when it came down to it, I didn't apply that principle to myself, in part because as a chronically ill person, I'm in the habit of constantly working through illness, even when failing to rest will make that illness worse.
Talking to my network about this helped me come up with some thresholds to meet when I should take time off. My fellow business owners and chronically ill peeps: how do you negotiate with yourselves when it's time to take rest?
