The algorithm is not made in our best interest
It's the Monday update! I'm going to be taking the first two weeks of June off, including from these videos. While I'm away, my intention is to think about my relationship with social media, Youtube, and the algorithm.
I started making these videos during the height of the pandemic as a form of internal tracking that also gave me a window to the outside world. We were all navigating a lot of change, and I felt like these videos helped us do that together. I still find that to be true, but the process of trying to navigate the algorithm in order to grow my audience is not for me. The algorithm is not made in our best interest as humans. Explicitly, the algorithm is not made in the image of a person like me, who is trying to run an equitable business, who is talking about liberation and what that looks like as the internal process of an organization.
What's your intention for the week? Put it in the box below, share this video if you found value in it, and don't forget to eat lunch!
